Tavares Florida
For those who are looking at moving into beautiful Central
Florida, you need go no further than Bob Podell, Realtor at Coldwell Banker
Camelot Realty who knows and understands this part of Florida better than
anyone else. One of the smaller cities they recommend is the bustling town of
Tavares, Florida which offers comfortable living conditions, plenty of
attractions and events along with its proximity to nearby major cities.
Known as America’s Seaplane City, Tavares, Florida is the
County Seat of Lake County which is located in the central part of the state in
the Orlando-Sanford-Kissimmee area. The city itself is also one of the fastest
growing in the region with a current population estimated at being over 14,000.
Tavares still enjoys the small-town feel of a typical community in Florida
while being near larger cities that provide many of the conveniences.
Founded by Alexander St. Clair-Abrams in 1880, the town was
named after one of Alexander’s ancestors. By 1887, Tavares was named the county
seat of Lake County and a short railroad line was built between the town and
Orlando. Over the next century, Tavares grew modestly as with most of the
cities and towns in Central Florida until the past two decades when the current
boom in population really took hold.
